Sami Dalby Jewellery

Sami Dalby is a Jewellery Artist.

In 2014 Sami Dalby began spending vacations and weekends taking courses at the Halliburton School of Art & Design (HSAD) in metal sculpture, mosaic making and silver metal clay jewellery. The silver metal clay provided an intro to small scale sculpture and metal work that got Sami’s attention. She went on to take the HSAD Jewellery certificate program and learned the fundamental skills of designing, forming and finishing and fell in love with the creative possibilities of telling stories with metal.

In 2020 Sami and her partner built Cramahe Hill Studios on their property just outside of Warkworth in Northumberland County, Ontario. Sami has shown her work in the Apple Route Studio Tour (2023 and 2024) and the Arts and Heritage Centre of Warkworth (Warkworth Group Show 2023). Cramahe Hill Studios hosted two online studio shows in 2020 ("Art for All") and 2021 ("Tilt"). Sami's work is also sold at The Edit Boutique in Warkworth.

Sami Dalby is a member of Craft Ontario. She is currently exploring contemporary, modernist and architectural styles and experimenting with patination, finishes and mixed media.

Current Exhibition: The Earring Show 2025

The Earring Show 2025 is curated by the Craft Council of BC.

The Earring Show 2025 is curated by the Craft Council of BC. This is a juried event that receives hundreds of submissions from around the world and presents earrings as art, culture, and a snapshot of contemporary high-level craftsmanship. The exhibition recognizes the importance of earrings throughout history in their various roles, from adornment and status markers, to protest and cultural statements.

The Craft Council BC Earring Show is now in it's 12th year.  "These earrings are never neutral; they express a passion for art, design, technique, a societal concern, a cultural statement, or simply the physical expression of the artist’s craft. The artwork often relays a story that speaks to a part of the makers’ identity. Through the exhibition, these unique pieces and their stories have the potential to become a part of the wearers’ own story. This reflects one of the goals of the Show: to create shared experiences around craft between makers and wearers."

CHS is proud to announce that Sami Dalby has been accepted to show three pairs of earrings  in The Earring Show 2025. "Mother" (Asymmetrical shoulder-grazer & ear cuff/riser in sterling silver + 10kg gold), "Earth" (Symmetrical textured and sculpted in sterling silver), and "Thrive" (Symmetrical textured and sculpted flowers in sterling silver with upcycled gemstones and gold-plated settings from a vintage brooch) are all showing in the One-of-a-Kind category.

Sami Dalby’s submission to the BC Craft 2025 Earring Show is inspired by the desire to view the world and current social landscape through a feminine lens. “I wanted to interrupt a narrative that I’m hearing and reading every day and shift focus to a different viewpoint or experience” says Dalby. “I hope that people will interact with my pieces and experience a message or feeling that is different from the widely accepted messaging on social and other media. I want to lift the veil on the simplistic approach that uses conflict, competition, oppression,  fear and so-called populism and instead bring attention to another way of understanding and being in this world – one that includes harmony, unity, resilience and wisdom.” To convey these themes, Dalby has submitted three works depicting natural or botanical images – each in a different style.
